Congratulations! TJU's Inst. of SynBio Selected as One of First Batch of “Bio-Manu Pilot Plant Constr. Platforms” by MIIT
On November 10th, the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the "List of Pilot Production Capacity Construction Platforms for Bio-manufacturing (First Batch)". Tianjin University's Frontiers Institute of Synthetic Biology successfully made the list due to its outstanding comprehensive strength in the field of pilot production in bio-manufacturing.
This selection was jointly conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission. After recommendations from provincial authorities and multi-dimensional evaluations by experts, the "First Batch Public Notice List" was finally formed. Pilot production is a key link in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in bio-innovation and an important support for the bio-manufacturing industry system. The selected units will adhere to market leadership and demand guidance, carry out paid services in accordance with market principles and achieve stable operation. They will also adhere to normative guidance and ensure safety and reliability, improve the standard system of pilot production equipment and the process of pilot production services, and enhance the data security and biological safety capabilities of the platform.
"Being selected as one of the first batch of pilot production platforms by the state is a high recognition of the Frontiers Institute of Synthetic Biology of Tianjin University in the underlying technologies, engineering capabilities, and industrial transformation models of synthetic biology," said Yuan Yingjin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the National Key Laboratory of Synthetic Biology Technology, and director of the Frontiers Institute of Synthetic Biology of Tianjin University.
The Frontiers Institute of Synthetic Biology of Tianjin University is a comprehensive research institution jointly built by Tianjin University and the People's Government of Wuqing District in Wuqing Development Area. It gathers a research team of 150+ people including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It has established national and provincial-level innovation platforms and international cooperation bases, and has built a complete pilot production chain for synthetic biology technology, including "gene synthesis and assembly area - strain construction and screening area - fermentation and process optimization area - process scaling and separation area - 10-ton fermentation platform", injecting strong impetus into regional scientific and technological innovation.
