On November 9, Wuqing Development Area signed a strategic cooperation agreement on synthetic biology industry transformation platform with the Synthetic Biology Frontier Research Institute of Tianjin University and CABIO Biotech (Wuhan) Co., Ltd.,making every effort to build a high-level, full-chain, open technology platform, effectively improving the overall achievement transformation ability and scientific and technological competitiveness of Wuqing synthetic biology industry, helping the high-quality development of the whole district, and implementing the deployment requirements of Tianjin\'s "ten actions" to promote high-quality development and the "3+1+1" work ideas of the District Party Committee with practical actions.Yuan Yingjin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of Tianjin University, Yi Dewei, chairman of CABIO, and Liu Hui, Secretary of the District Party Committee, held a discussion and attended the signing ceremony.
The Frontier Research Institute of Synthetic Biology of Tianjin University was established in Wuqing Development Area in 2011. After more than ten years of development, it has achieved a series of representative scientific research achievements. In March 2023, the Institute and Wuqing Development Area signed the "Tianjin University Synthetic Biology Frontier Research Institute Co-construction Agreement", focusing on building "one institute, one alliance and three platforms". Established in 2004, CABIO has achieved industrialization of a number of technologies, and its products are widely used in infant formula food, dietary nutritional supplements and health food, special medical formula food, cosmetic care products and other fields. The three parties signed the strategic cooperation agreement, marking the research and development technology advantages of Tianjin University Synthetic Biology Frontier Research Institute, CABIO\'s strong strength in the field of synthetic biology product industrialization and Wuqing\'s local biomedical industry advantages to achieve a strong combination, the future will be committed to biomedical products to achieve scale and industrialization.
Yuan Yingjin said that in recent years, under the care and guidance of the Wuqing District Party Committee and District government, and with the strong support of the relevant departments such as the development Area, the Institute has continuously accelerated its own upgrading and continued to expand the scientific research field, and has created a whole chain of synthetic biology basic research results to industrial application around the industries of biomedical, food, new energy and new materials. In the future, the Institute will continue to take root in Wuqing, strengthen external exchanges, attract more science and technology innovation enterprises such as CABIO to carry out cooperation in Wuqing, and promote the local transformation of high value-added scientific research results such as biological medicine，Biomedical Sciences and bio-manufacturing. It is hoped that the three parties will take the signing of the agreement as an opportunity to deepen cooperation at a higher level, in more projects and in larger areas, leveraging the momentum and seeking common development, and achieving the optimal effect of 1+1+1 greater than 3.
Yi Dewei said that CABIO has established a good cooperative relationship with the expert team led by Academician Yuan Yingjin over the years, and has formed a leading bio-manufacturing platform technology based on synthetic biology, industrial strain directed breeding, fermentation fine regulation and other biotechnology, and has realized the industrialization of a number of products.
Coming to Wuqing this time, we fully felt the strong atmosphere of single-minded development of the whole region, and also strengthened the determination and confidence of deepening cooperation with Wuqing District. CABIO will take the contract as a new starting point, accelerate the systematic, engineering and industrialization layout in Wuqing, helping Wuqing to create a new technology source and industrial transformation amplifier that can radiate the whole country and affect the world, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win situation in common development.
Liu Hui congratulated the three parties on the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement, and thanked the Tianjin University Synthetic Biology Frontier Research Institute and CABIO for their strong support to Wuqing.
She said that at present, Wuqing has made every effort to seize the strategic opportunity of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, centering on the "double-high leading" industrial pattern of intelligent technology and biomedicine, continuously optimizing the industrial ecology of the whole region, fully creating landmark leading projects, and promoting the planning and construction of Beijing-Tianjin Industrial New City with high standards. The development of various work cannot be separated from the scientific and technological guidance of scientific research institutes and the strong support of scientific and technological innovation enterprises. It is hoped that the Institute and CABIO can further exert their advantages in scientific research, brand, resources, operation and other aspects to help Wuqing synthetic biology industry flourish. The Party Committee and district government of Wuqing District will spare no effort to provide good services, unswervingly provide support, tailor support policies for cooperation projects, solve difficult problems in a timely manner, so that more scientific research results can "blossom" in Wuqing, and realize that the three parties can join hands to open a new journey and go to a new track together.
